Our focus is to provide innovative, energy efficient and cost effective Mechanical, Electrical and Public Health (MEP) building services design solutions uniquely tailored to meet the individual requirements of each of our clients.
Our MEP design services include:
heating, hot and cold water, drainage, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration, cooling systems, compressed air, gas, renewable energies, controls and building management, power distribution, lighting, lightning protection, security & access control and commissioning.
We are able to offer a wide range of services to demonstrate compliance to UK and European legislation. This can include: Simplified Building Energy Modelling (SBEM), Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme (ESOS) assessments, Energy Performance Certificates (EPC) and Display Energy Certificates (DEC).
SBEM/Part L Compliance:
Using approved modelling software (IESVE), our level 5 approved assessors can demonstrate compliance with Part L of the Building Regulations for all buildings, using either SBEM or Dynamic Simulation Modelling, by calculating the building's energy performance and ensuring the designed Building CO2 Emission Rate (BER) does not exceed the Target CO2 Emission Rate (TER). Our assessors are able to use their knowledge to advise the project team on all aspects of the building design to assist with Part L compliance and make real improvements in the building performance.
ESOS is a mandatory energy assessment and energy saving identification scheme for large undertakings (and their corporate groups). The purpose of an energy assessment is to obtain adequate knowledge of the energy consumption profile of a building, process or system, identifying and quantifying cost-effective energy saving opportunities, and reporting the findings. Failure to undertake an ESOS assessment could lead to heavy financial penalties.
Our registered lead assessors are fully qualified Building Services Engineers experienced in sustainable and low energy design solutions. We are uniquely placed to offer our clients advice on all aspects of ESOS

VE – Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme
All domestic and commercial buildings in the UK available to buy or let must have an EPC. An EPC is a report that assesses the energy efficiency of a property and recommends specific ways in which the efficiency of your property could be improved.
A DEC and advisory report are required for buildings with a total useful floor over 500m2 that are occupied in whole or part by public authorities and frequently visited by the public. A DEC shows the energy performance of a building based on actual energy consumption as recorded over the last 12 months.
Venner Engineering use a dynamic approach to building services design and we are trained and proficient in the use of Building Information Modelling (BIM) and Virtual Environment (VE) simulation software. Our simulation and modelling service include: 3D modelling and services coordination, CO2 emissions, energy use, occupant comfort, building thermal simulations, Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analysis of ventilation systems and shading calculations.
Using IES VE, we are able to undertake detailed analysis of all aspects of building environmental performance at early stages of the project enabling us to identify effective and efficient design solutions.
Building information modelling is key to integrated work on larger projects to support sustainable and energy-efficient designs, helping avoid costly last-minute changes.
